Calcium silicate board screws are specialized fasteners engineered exclusively for securing calcium silicate boards—a fire-resistant, moisture-resistant building material widely used in partition walls, ceilings, exterior cladding, and industrial enclosures. Unlike standard drywall screws, these screws are designed to handle the board’s high density, rigidity, and abrasiveness, ensuring a stable, long-lasting connection without damaging the board substrate.
Key Features
High-Strength Thread DesignThe thread profile of calcium silicate board screws is optimized for dense, non-gypsum substrates: it features a medium-to-coarse pitch with deep, sharp threads that bite firmly into both the board and underlying framing (wood or metal). This design prevents thread slippage and pull-out, even under the board’s own weight or environmental stress (e.g., thermal expansion).
For wood framing: Threads are slightly coarser to enhance grip in lumber.
For metal framing: Threads are finer and more tightly spaced to lock into steel studs without stripping thin-gauge metal.
Countersunk Bugle or Flat HeadMost models adopt a bugle head (similar to drywall screws) that sits flush with the board surface without cracking or chipping the brittle calcium silicate material. For exterior cladding or decorative applications, a flat countersunk head with a Phillips or Torx drive is available for a smoother, more aesthetic finish. Torx drives are preferred for high-torque installations, as they reduce cam-out (slipping of the driver bit).
Hardened Steel Core & Wear-Resistant CoatingThe screw shank is made of high-carbon hardened steel to resist bending or breaking during installation—critical for penetrating the dense calcium silicate board without pre-drilling. To ensure corrosion resistance:
Indoor use: Electro-galvanized or phosphate coating to prevent rust during construction and service.
Outdoor/humid environments: Hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) or stainless steel (304/316 grade) coating to withstand moisture, humidity, and chemical exposure.
Sharp Self-Drilling & Self-Tapping PointEquipped with a tapered, sharp drill point, these screws eliminate the need for pre-drilling pilot holes in most cases—even for thick calcium silicate boards (up to 25 mm). The self-tapping threads further streamline installation by cutting into the framing material directly, reducing labor time on-site.
Standard Size SpecificationsCommon sizes are tailored to calcium silicate board thickness (typically 6–25 mm) and framing type:
Length: 32 mm to 75 mm (ensures at least 15–20 mm of thread engagement with the underlying framing).
Diameter: #8 to #10 (thicker shanks provide higher pull-out resistance for heavy-duty applications like exterior cladding).
