Coarse Thread Particle Board Screw
Coarse thread particle board screws (also called chipboard screws) are self-tapping fasteners optimized for low/medium/high-density particleboard, MDF, plywood, and softwoods. Their thick, deep coarse threads and sharp self-tapping tips deliver high pull-out resistance and prevent splitting, making them ideal for furniture assembly, cabinetry, shelving, and general woodworking where reliable clamping and minimal pre-drilling are needed.Key Features
Thread & Point Design
Full coarse thread: Deep, wide, sharp threads maximize contact with particleboard fibers for strong grip and pull-out resistance.
Self-tapping tip (Type 17 or slash point): Pierces material cleanly without pre-drilling (except near edges or in dense substrates).
Thin shank: Reduces driving torque and splitting risk, especially in edge/end-grain applications.
Head & Drive
Common heads: Countersunk (CSK/flat), pan, wafer, or truss—countersunk for flush finishes; pan/truss for better bearing and visibility.
Drive types: Phillips, square (Robertson), or Torx (star)—Torx preferred for high torque and reduced cam-out.
Material & Coating
Core: High-carbon steel (C1018–C1022) for tensile strength; 304/316 stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
Coatings:
Phosphate/black oxide: Indoor dry use, temporary rust protection.
Electro-galvanized zinc: General indoor use, moderate corrosion resistance.
Hot-dipped galvanized (HDG)/stainless steel: Humid/outdoor-adjacent, coastal, or corrosive environments.
